Asya is an orientalist, Georgian language teacher and translator. She was born in Tbilisi, where she graduated from Yves ․ Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Armenology, receiving the qualification of an Armenologist, with Master's degree in "Modern Armenian Language - Translation Work". Currently, Asya is working on her PhD thesis on "Typological, comparative examination of declension systems in modern Georgian and Armenian". Also, Asya teaches Georgian at the Department of Caucasus Studies, Faculty of History of Yerevan State University. She is experienced in simultaneous translations and has numerous translations of fiction and poetry from Armenian to Georgian and vice versa. Fluent in Georgian, Russian and English. In 2016, Asya was awarded the Vakhushti Koketishvili Prize for the best verse translation of the year.
