Hovhannes Hovakimyan

Hovhannes Hovakimyan was born in 1998 in Oshakan, Aragatsotn region, Armenia. Hovhannes holds a bachelor’s degree from Yerevan State University, Faculty of Philology, and is currently an MA student at the Chair of Modern Armenian Literature of the same faculty. Hovhannes is the deputy-director of “Zangak” bookstore chains. Since 2020 he has been teaching the courses “Culture of Speech” and “Armenian Language and Literature” at the Chair of Armenian Studies of the Russian-Armenian University.

Hovhannes’s works have been published in literary press since 2017. In 2018 he received the award “Revelation of the Year,” and in 2020 his short story “Anzhiko” was awarded “Best Short Story” by “Granish Literary Community”. In 2018 Hovhannes also received Hakob Karapents scholarship award. Hovhanness’s first book, a collection of short stories titled “(Not) A Novel” was published in 2020 with the Literary scholarship of RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
